The Institute for Psychedelics and Death (IPD) is a transdisciplinary incubator for research, education, and equitable access to psychedelic best practices in end-of-life care.

We envision a world where dying is honored as a sacred passage—supported by community, rooted in ritual, and guided by integrative psychedelic care.

Our Approach:

  • Family-Centered Ketamine Assisted Therapy

  • Home-based Care Model

  • Bereavement Support

  • Integration Services

  • Life Review Consultations

  • Equitable Access

Beck Ballentine, MD

Su Wasseluk, NP

Beck earned a Doctor of Medicine from the Latin American School of Medicine in Havana, Cuba complemented by advanced degrees in philosophy, religion and education. Board certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Beck completed a fellowship at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and has pursued specialized training in bioethics, communication skills and integrative medicine, including a psychedelic assisted psychotherapy certificate from CIIS, an MDMA training with MAPS, and a Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy for Palliative care intensive with the Integrative Psychiatry Institute. Beck is an active member of the Montefiore Hospital Ethics Committee in New York. When they are not working, they can be found with their feet in the creek, writing, or playing with watercolors

Su has been an English teacher in Japan, a professional organic farmer, and is now a double board-certified Family and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Their practice philosophy centers curiosity, compassion and increasing access to equitable care for historically underserved populations, including the unhoused, seriously mentally ill, substance-dependent and LGBTQIA2S+ populations. They are trained and certified in psychedelic therapy through MAPS and CIIS. They have logged thousands of miles on America’s long-distance hiking trails, hundreds of hours sitting zazen in the Soto tradition, and decades studying and practicing Iyengar yoga. They prefer swimming in deep water and liminal spaces.
